Hello, I’m Rachael, a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist and the person behind New Path Therapies.
I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel daunting. You may be unsure what to expect, worried about opening up to someone you don’t know, or simply wondering whether therapy is right for you.
That’s why one of the most important parts of my approach is creating a relationship built on trust.
I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable talking about what’s happening in your life, knowing that you will be listened to and supported. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what to say. We can start wherever you are.
Therapy centred around you.
Every person that comes to New Path Therapies brings their own unique experiences, challenges and reasons for seeking support.
That’s why I believe therapy should not be a one-size fits-all process. Our work together is shaped around you - what you have been through, what you are currently experiencing and what you would like to better understand or change. Importantly, at a pace at which you feel comfortable.

Feeling able to trust your therapist is fundamental. I aim to create a relationship where you feel safe enough to speak honestly and know that what you have to say matters.

Your experiences are your own. I’ll listen without judgement and seek to understand what life feels like from your perspective.

There is no pressure to talk about something before you feel ready. Therapy gives you the time and space to explore your experiences at a pace that works for you.

We can look beyond what you are feeling today and explore the experiences, beliefs and patterns that may be contributing to it.

Greater understanding can open the door to change. Our work can help you develop new perspectives, greater confidence and different ways of responding to the challenges you face.
Sometimes what happened then can affect how we feel now.
Our past experiences can shape the way we think, feel and respond to situations today – sometimes without us even realising it. You may find yourself repeating patterns you don’t understand, reacting strongly to certain situations, struggling with confidence or experiencing anxiety and difficult emotions that seem hard to explain.
Psychotherapeutic counselling provides an opportunity to explore those connections. It isn’t about dwelling on the past. It’s about developing a better understanding of yourself today.
By exploring where certain feelings, beliefs or behaviours may have come from, we can begin working towards greater self-awareness and the possibility of doing things differently.

Finding an approach that works for you.
As a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist, I can draw upon different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual circumstances and what you would like help with.
Psychotherapeutic counselling provides space to talk, reflect and explore your experiences in greater depth.
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention and can be helpful when working with particular thoughts, feelings, habits or patterns.
For some people, one approach may be most appropriate. For others, elements of both may complement one another. We can discuss the options together and consider what feels most appropriate for you.
Seeking therapy can involve sharing thoughts, feelings and experiences that you may rarely – or perhaps never – have spoken about before.
Providing a professional and confidential environment is therefore an essential part of my work.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and am a member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), reflecting my commitment to professional standards and ethical practice.
Most importantly, I want New Path Therapies to feel like somewhere you can come as you are – without needing to pretend that everything is okay.

Let’s start with a conversation. Finding the right therapist is personal. Qualifications and experience are important, but so is feeling that you can actually talk to the person sitting opposite you.
That’s why I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before you decide whether you would like to work with me. It gives you the opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you here, ask any questions and get a sense of whether I’m someone you could feel comfortable talking to. There’s no obligation to continue. Sometimes the hardest part is simply making that first contact. Let’s start there.
