A safe space to talk, understand and find a way forward.
Sometimes life becomes difficult to manage on your own. You may be experiencing anxiety, struggling with confidence, feeling overwhelmed by your emotions or finding that experiences from your past continue to affect your life today.
Counselling and psychotherapy provide a confidential, supportive space where you can talk openly about what you’re experiencing and begin to understand yourself more deeply.
I’m Rachael, a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist, and I’ll work alongside you without judgement or expectation. Together, we can explore what has brought you to therapy, consider what may be contributing to how you feel and work towards changes that are meaningful to you. You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong or have the right words to explain it. We can start wherever you are.
More than simply talking about how you feel.
Psychotherapeutic counselling combines the supportive relationship of counselling with a deeper exploration of the experiences, emotions and patterns that may influence the way you think, feel and behave.
It gives you the opportunity to talk about what is happening in your life now while also considering whether experiences from your past could be affecting your present. You might begin to recognise patterns in relationships, understand why particular situations trigger strong emotions or explore where long-held beliefs about yourself have come from.
Developing this understanding can help you see yourself and your experiences from a different perspective and begin to consider what you would like to change. Therapy isn’t about someone else giving you all the answers. It’s about helping you discover your own.
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. There doesn’t have to be a single significant event or an obvious explanation for how you’re feeling. You may simply know that life doesn’t feel as you would like it to.
Counselling and psychotherapy can provide support with:

Exploring the thoughts, feelings and situations behind anxiety and developing a greater understanding of how they affect you.

Helping you explore your experience of panic, recognise possible triggers and understand the impact it is having on your everyday life.

Exploring the beliefs and experiences that may have shaped how you see yourself and helping you develop a healthier relationship with yourself.

A supportive space to talk when you are feeling low, disconnected, unmotivated or finding everyday life difficult.

Exploring relationship difficulties, communication, boundaries and recurring patterns that may be affecting your wellbeing.

Providing space to talk and process your emotions following bereavement, loss or a significant change in your life.

Exploring difficult experiences in a safe and supportive environment and understanding how the past may continue to influence your present.

Support when circumstances change and you find yourself facing uncertainty, difficult decisions or a period of adjustment.

Your time. Your space. Your pace.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and sessions are shaped around you and what you need. You may arrive wanting to talk about something specific that has happened during the week. At other times, we may continue exploring something that has emerged through previous sessions.
There is no script you need to follow and no expectation that you should talk about anything before you feel ready. I’ll listen, ask questions when appropriate and help you explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences from different perspectives.
Over time, this process can help you recognise patterns, understand your emotional responses and develop greater awareness of yourself and what you need. Most importantly, you remain at the centre of the process.
Finding the approach that suits you.
New Path Therapies offers both Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Hypnotherapy.
Counselling and psychotherapy primarily involve talking, reflecting and exploring your experiences, thoughts and emotions.
Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention and may be useful when working with particular thoughts, emotional responses, habits or patterns.
Depending on what has brought you to therapy, one approach may be more appropriate, or aspects of both may complement each other. You don't need to decide which you need before getting in touch. We can discuss what you're experiencing and consider the most appropriate way forward together.

You may have been coping with how you feel for months or even years. Perhaps something has recently changed, or maybe you’ve simply reached the point where you know you don’t want things to continue as they are. You don’t need to wait until you know exactly what you need from therapy.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call where we can talk briefly about what has brought you here, you can ask any questions you have and we can see whether working together feels right for you. There’s no obligation to continue. A new path can begin with a conversation
