Hypnotherapy

Helping you create positive change.

Sometimes you know what you would like to change, but changing the way you think, feel or respond isn’t always easy. You might be struggling with anxiety or confidence, experiencing an unwanted fear or finding yourself caught in patterns of thought or behaviour that seem difficult to change consciously.

Hypnotherapy combines deep relaxation with focused attention, creating an opportunity to work with thoughts, feelings and responses in a different way.

I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist, offering a safe, supportive and personalised approach to hypnotherapy – guiding you towards a relaxed state where your mind becomes open to positive suggestions, encouraging healthy behavioural change.

What Is Hypnotherapy?

A deeply relaxed state with a therapeutic purpose.

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation to help you enter a calm, focused state in which your attention becomes more concentrated.

This relaxed state is sometimes referred to as hypnosis or trance. Despite what you may have seen in films or entertainment, hypnotherapy isn’t about being asleep, unconscious or under somebody else's control. You remain fully aware and in control.

The purpose of therapeutic hypnotherapy is to create a focused environment in which we can work with the thoughts, feelings and responses that may be contributing to the difficulty you are experiencing. Hypnotherapy is collaborative. We work towards goals that we have discussed and agreed together.

What Can Hypnotherapy Help With?

People consider hypnotherapy for different reasons. You may have a particular issue you would like to address, a fear or phobia or simply feel that certain thoughts, feelings or behaviours are preventing you from living life in the way that you would like to.

Depending on your individual circumstances and suitability, hypnotherapy may be used to support areas such as:

What Does Hypnosis Feel Like?

What does hypnotherapy feel like?

You may be more familiar with it than you think. The word hypnosis can make the process sound mysterious, but the experience itself is often much more ordinary.

Most people experience periods of deep concentration or absorption in everyday life – perhaps becoming completely engrossed in a book, a film or a piece of music, or arriving somewhere and realising that part of a familiar journey passed almost automatically.

During hypnotherapy, relaxation and focused attention are encouraged intentionally and used for a therapeutic purpose. You can still hear what is happening around you. You can communicate with me, and you can bring the session to an end if you choose. You remain you throughout the entire process.

Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Two approaches, centred around one person – you.

As both a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist, I am able to consider your needs from more than one therapeutic perspective. For some people, counselling provides the opportunity to explore experiences, emotions and patterns in greater depth.

For others, hypnotherapy may provide a more focused way of working towards a particular change. There may also be circumstances where the two approaches can complement one another. There is no need to decide for yourself which therapy you need before contacting me.

We can begin by talking about what you're experiencing, what you would like to change and what approach may be most appropriate for you.
